Trouble brewing in the Girls Aloud Camp
It appears that all is not well in the Girls Aloud camp.
Despite confirmation by the girls of a reunion in 2012 to
mark the band’s 10th anniversary, it appears that plans may have to
be put on ice until Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle can work out their
differences.
It is no secret that the two have not always seen eye to eye
since they were shoved together on national TV in Popstars: The Rivals. A Source told heat magazine:
“They are two very different people who were forced upon
each other in the band. Cheryl has always hated the fact that Nadine has a
better voice than her and is always given lead vocals but the sad truth is that
clearly the better voice doesn’t matter as Cheryl’s had a string of solo hits
and Nadine’s solo career has fallen flat on its face. Nadine is shocked at how
well Cheryl has done given her ‘lack of talent’. She and Cheryl have never been
friends.”
In another blow for the band, Nadine has also told the
magazine that she does not consider the girls her ‘friends’, but ‘colleagues’
who she would not choose to see outside work. The 26 year old said:
“They’re not my friends. I don’t speak to them or socialize
with them. I have my own friends that I’ve grown up with and the girls are very
much my colleagues. I wouldn’t socialize with them outside of work.”
This admission will no doubt make things harder for the band
when/if they get back together next year. It is no secret that Cheryl Cole has
remained good friends with bandmates Kimberly Walsh, Sarah Harding and Nicola
Roberts. Now that a reunion is on the cards, the source revealed that Cheryl is
in it to support her mates whilst Nadine is only keen for the money:
“For Nadine this is about the money and not about doing it
for the girls. She will make a fortune from this reunion tour and she knows it.
Kimberley has been the most desperate to do it and Cheryl would never let her
down. Cheryl is loyal to a fault and recognises this is a way for the others to
make some serious money.”
Despite rumours that Cheryl would happily reform the band
without Nadine, it seems as though the reunion tour might not happen unless it
includes all five band members. Nadine has realised that she has the strongest
voice and that the band needs her. The source revealed that “she’s said openly
to her friends that the band needs her for the reunion because she carries a
lot of the songs.”
We won’t hold our breath.
