Madonna Furious with M.I.A for Upstaging her at Super Bowl
Madonna is not a happy bunny…
M.I.A. is now in Madge’s black book after raising her middle
finger whilst performing as a cameo for the Material Girl’s Super Bowl
spectacular.
Madonna is reportedly fuming with the London-born rapper for
upstaging her during her first live performance for three years. The Queen of Pop
spent months preparing for the Super Bowl and poured millions of dollars into
the set, only to have M.I.A. steal her thunder.
The Vogue singer
apparently had no idea that M.I.A., real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, was
planning on making the rude gesture in full view of the cameras. A source told The Sun: “Madonna wasn’t impressed. She
prides herself on professionalism.
“M.I.A did nothing similar in rehearsals. Nobody knew she
was going to pull this stunt.
A source close to the rapper blamed the finger malfunction
on “adrenaline,” telling the paper: “She wasn’t thinking. She was caught in the
moment and she’s incredibly sorry.”
Unfortunately for M.I.A., Madonna is not the only person
that she has upset. NFL and NBC officials immediately rushed to apologise to
viewers, though blame has been bounced back and forth.
The Parents Television Council are also far from impressed.
Officials of the U.S. group have branded the incident a “selfish act of a
desperate performer.”
M.I.A.’s management have yet to comment.
